Three common routes give you a Dock icon per Chrome profile: an Automator or script launcher (free, but each click opens a new window), a standalone app wrapper (a separate app with its own data), and Casement (one icon per existing profile that returns to its open window). They differ in cost, setup effort and what happens to your data.

| Cost | Free | Varies by tool | $9 once for this feature |
| Needs Accessibility permission | No | Depends on the tool | Yes |
Hand-made launcher
You build a small app with open -na "Google Chrome" --args --profile-directory="Profile 1". It costs nothing and uses your real profile. The cost is time, a generic icon unless you make one, and a new window on every click.
Standalone app wrapper
Some tools package a site or browser into its own app. That can give clean separation, because each app is a different browser state. It also means signing in again and keeping a second set of history, and extensions you already have may not come with it.
Casement
Creates the Dock apps for you from the profiles Chrome already has, with the profile photo, and focuses the existing window. It needs Accessibility permission, since that is how macOS lets an app focus another app's windows.
Things to consider
- Do you want to keep using the logins and extensions you already have?
- How often do you switch, and how annoying are extra windows?
- Are you comfortable granting Accessibility permission?
- Is a one-time cost acceptable, or is a free manual setup enough?
Questions people ask
Can I combine methods?
Yes. Nothing stops you from using a launcher for one profile and Casement for the rest.
Details about other tools are general and may change; check their own pages.
Try Casement
Casement is a menu-bar app for Mac that puts each Chrome profile in the Dock as its own icon and adds snap layouts, hover-to-focus, a window switcher, Dock window lists, a drop shelf and display controls..
