In Chrome, use the profile picture at the top right to choose another profile, or use the Profiles menu in the macOS menu bar. Each profile opens in its own window. For one-click switching from outside Chrome, put each profile in the Dock.
From inside Chrome
- Click the profile picture at the right of the toolbar and pick a profile.
- Open Profiles in the macOS menu bar and choose one, or choose Manage Chrome Profiles to see all of them.
Each profile has its own windows. Switching does not close the one you were using.
From the keyboard
Press ⌘` to cycle through Chrome's windows, which crosses profiles. With Casement's window switcher, ⌥Tab lists every window of every profile by title.
From the Dock
A Dock icon per profile is the fastest route if you switch many times a day. Casement creates them; click one and you land in that profile's existing window.
Which method when
| Situation | Fastest route |
|---|---|
| You are already in Chrome | Profile picture or the Profiles menu |
| You are in another app and want a profile | A Dock icon for that profile |
| You are not sure which window holds what | Window list by title (⌥ Tab with Casement) |
| You switch constantly all day | A Dock icon per profile plus colour-coded frames |
Troubleshooting
- If the profile you want is missing from the menu, choose Manage Chrome Profiles and check it has not been hidden or removed.
- If clicking a profile opens a second window instead of returning to the first, that is Chrome opening a new window for it. Close the extra one or use a Dock icon that returns to the existing window.
Questions people ask
Does switching log me out?
