Facebook Marketplace listing tips for used-car dealers

Updated October 9, 2026·1 min read
Short answer

Good Marketplace listings use clear photos from several angles, an accurate price and mileage, the VIN and a plain description of condition. Reply quickly and take cars down when they sell. If you use a tool to fill in listings, post from your own account, keep content accurate and follow Meta's commerce policies.

The listing itself

  • Photos: exterior from four corners, interior, dashboard with mileage, engine bay, wheels and any damage. Daylight, clean background.
  • Title: year, make, model, trim.
  • Price: the real price; avoid placeholders.
  • Description: condition, ownership and service history if you know it, key features and how to book a viewing.
  • Location: where the car is.

After you post

  • Answer messages quickly.
  • Mark vehicles sold or remove them so buyers are not misled.
  • Do not post the same car repeatedly; duplicate listings can be restricted.

Automation and rules

Meta's policies govern what you may list and how. A tool that fills in the form for you saves typing; it does not change those rules. The Dealer Garage extension posts from your own signed-in account. See Marketplace posting.

A pre-post checklist

  • At least eight clear photos including the odometer.
  • VIN, price and mileage correct.
  • A description in your own words.
  • Contact details and hours.
  • No duplicate of a listing already live.
