Accounts with roles, not one shared password

Each manager signs in as themselves.

Short answer

Clockgauge Host has named accounts instead of a shared password. Roles are Owner, Manager, Payroll and Viewer. Passwords must be at least ten characters, repeated wrong attempts lock the account for a while, forgotten passwords are reset by an emailed code or by the owner's recovery key, and an audit log records who changed what.

Roles

RoleTypical access
OwnerEverything, including plan, backup and uninstall
ManagerPeople, projects, reports and screenshots
PayrollPay rates, balances and payments
ViewerRead-only reports

Security

  • Password minimum of ten characters.
  • Lockout after five wrong attempts for fifteen minutes.
  • Invite managers by code; they choose their own password.
  • Optional email for reset codes; the owner's recovery key works without email.

Audit log

Every sensitive change, such as inviting someone, changing a rate or deleting screenshots, is recorded with who and when.

Setting up managers

  1. As the owner, open People and invite a manager by email or code.
  2. They choose a password of at least ten characters.
  3. Give them the role that fits: Manager, Payroll or Viewer.
  4. Review the Activity log from time to time.
